![]() Chances are you’ve never even met these people and never will. Since employees are responsible for this, you will constantly receive the dreaded “Hey girly! :)” texts from employees who work at the other salons in your area begging you to cover for them. If you fail to do so and do not report for your shift it is counted as a “no call no show” and you will be immediately terminated. Any time you attempt to call off you are expected to find the coverage for the shift yourself. Guaranteed to have at least 1 spray tan stain on your skin and/or clothes at all times. “Clients” will show up right at closing time and you better pray you can lock the door fast enough or else you have to let them tan. The days leading up to your local high school’s prom will be a living nightmare. I do not recommend this job for anyone who is physically disabled or deals with chronic pain. (Lots of standing for long periods of time, bending, crouching, kneeling, and crawling on the floor that your freshly 18 years old co worker probably didn’t mop the night before. If you have any of the following characteristics you will likely sell less product and be treated differently by “clients” and higher ups: tattoos, piercings, unnatural colored hair, any skin color that isn’t perfectly tanned but still white passing. ![]() There is also zero room for promotion unless you eventually want to run a salon yourself. Base pay is super low, and it’s basically impossible to meet the minimum sales requirement to earn commission. ![]() Training is the only time you’ll ever work with someone else, and it’s the only time you’ll ever get a meal break.(When you sign your onboarding paperwork you will notice a section that states you agree to not take action against the company for the lack of legally mandated breaks) Equipment breaks/needs maintenance frequently.
